Part of me would love to see a social re-embrace of psychedelic substances but other part of me thinks no, not in this time and place. They would be sucked up into the Machine and turned into a product that sends the users to psychedelic hell. Just another product, just another thing to be monetized and used to further exploit people.
I have been a JΓΌnger devotee for many decades, starting with reading "Storm of Steel" as a young Army officer. What an incredible war diary! The best ever written in any language. But Approaches is on another level. It is one of the most sweeping, erudite, fascinating works ever penned in the psychonaut space. In any space, perhaps. Hard to classify. When Albert Hoffmann decided to take acid for the first time in the world outside of the lab and wanted a partner in his trip, he chose Ernst JΓΌnger and when you read Approaches, you will see why.

Ben, this post really recalled to me Ernst JΓΌngerβs Approaches. Have you read it yet?
I have not! Looks right up my alley, in the vein of Charles Tart's "Altered States of Consciousness." I've added it to my Amazon wishlist.
